research

2025

'thread by thread I will speak again' is the research project I presented for the Advanced master of resarch in art in a social political context. Throughout this year I explored the material language of grief. In my research I struggled and played with the duality of being silenced and silencing myself. The presentation included a tactile publication, a voice recording, a small embroidered banner and a large embroidered banner with hidden envelope with letter at the back and a sculpture. (all pictures on this page)

Presented at Morpho Antwerp

‘Let’s walk each other home’ is a workshop that explores the communal language of grief through storytelling and tactile memory. Participants are guided through memories to unravel their grief, write and share their story and then gift it to the body of grief by way of embroidery.

Performed at: Sint Lucas Antwerpen/Merksemdok

'Touching the city and letting it touch me' is a movie collage that questions  what my grief is made of. (Loss of people, unmet needs, no mirroring, existential loneliness, sorrow of the world, hypervigilence, trust in others, lost memories, colapse of the family ideal, shame of emotional and physical abuse,)  It gives grief a physical form and looks for cracks in the blueprint op the city. It offers grief in material form and let's the city hold its grief.

2024

‘All these arms I have for you but will someone please hold mine?’ Is a set of participatory sculptures that can be displayed in group or individually and require an audience to activate it. They question which psychological needs must be fulfilled for people to feel at home? The works attempt to fulfill a need that may have remained unanswered in the search for this place. The sculptures are tools to embrace, comfort and hold the participant, so they can come home.

Presented and performed at: Storm op Komst Festival/STORMKOP/Corso/Omarm Stuivenberg/OPEK

‘thuis/home’ is a workshop that activates participants senses of home through art, tactile memory, visual storytelling and sound. Participant draw/draw on memories of home and recreate a space of belonging to carry with them.

Performed at: KMSKA/MLeuven/RADAR Mechelen

2023

‘portable heimat’ asks people to carry their portable home with them and reflect on, collect and document the sights, sounds, tastes, smells and touch that reminds them of home.

Performed by different individuals during their travels.

2023-...

‘please just see me.’ ongoing project which reflects on the struggle of wanting to be seen for who I am while also dreading being noticed.
